INVESTIGATION OF MICROALGAE GASIFICATION UNDER STEAM ATMOSPHERE IN DOWNDRAFT GASIFIER BY USING ASPEN PLUS®

Energy production is facing the environmental and economic issues due to growing population uncertainties about fossil fuels. These concerns prompt researchers find widely available renewable alternative such as biomass instead of Microalgae one promising biofuels owing its rapid growth speed higher calorific value. Steam gasification an way converting syngas with H2 lower CO2 content compared other thermochemical conversion processes. In present work, downdraft gasifier model was developed by using Aspen Plus® program that has capability investigate performance microalgae gasification. Before evaluation gasification, validation successfully completed exit gas compositions H2, CO2, CO CH4 were found very close for experimental study model. Effects main parameters process steam/biomass ratio temperature assessed on composition heating value (HHV) syngas. The obtained results stated increment in showed great effect syngas, they increased from 50.72% 56.47% 28.11% 28.84% respectively. simulation also illustrated rising S/B favored steam related reactions However decreasing trend caused reducing HHV a function well.
